I am the mother of two African-American boys. Now, more than ever, do I understand the weight of that statement. I began to worry about my sons’ futures. What kind of world were they growing up in? Would they automatically be considered “suspect” because of their gender and skin tone? Would they be racially-profiled because they are black? My mind was racing with worry.
